Valve announces significant price rises for Steam Deck

Valve has announced that both the 512GB and 1TB models of the Steam Deck are now back in stock, but have received significant price increases. Valve says the updated pricing reflects the current price of components, as well as “other global logistical challenges”.

Here are the updated prices for each Steam Deck model:

Steam Deck OLED (512GB) – $789 USD / $1,129 CAD / €779 / £649

Steam Deck OLED (1TB) – $949 USD / $1349 CAD /€919 / £779

“Steam Deck itself hasn’t changed; these new prices reflect the current state of component costs and other global logistical challenges across the industry as a whole,” Valve said in a brief post on the Steam Hardware community page.

“We’ll keep you updated if anything changes.”

Valve is the latest tech company to announce price increases for its hardware, having already delayed both the Steam Machine and Steam Frame due to increased component costs. The company’s latest hardware release, the Steam Controller, was also hit with delays before it finally began shipping earlier this month.

Earlier this month, Nintendo announced that it would be increasing the price of the Switch 2 starting in September, with every model of the Switch receiving a price increase in the company’s home nation of Japan.
