Forza Horizon 6 has seemingly been leaked, with the PC version of the game having already been acquired, cracked and made available online by pirates.
The leak comes 9 days before the game’s official launch on May 19th, and nearly a week before the early access launch for Premium edition owners on May 15th.
At the time of writing, the cause of the leak has not yet been officially confirmed by Xbox or developer Playground Games. However, it’s theorised that the developer mistakenly made an unencrypted version of the game available for preloading on Steam, which granted users access to the game’s files.
The game has then been cracked, which involves using an edited game file to bypass copy protection and license activation protocols to access the game illegitimately.
TMGN can confirm that pirated copies of the game have been made available on several sites, but hasn’t downloaded the game to verify the content. However, plenty of users have done so, posting images and clips on social media and YouTube, with one person having reportedly streamed the game for a brief period of time.
Forza Horizon 6 is the latest entry in Playground Games’ open-world racing series, with the sixth entry taking players to Japan, a long-requested location from fans.
The last entry, Forza Horizon 5, was released in 2021 to extremely high critical acclaim, scoring 92 on Metacritic. The game was released on PS5 last year and saw similar success, selling over 5 million copies on Sony’s platform. In total, it’s estimated that over 30 million people have played the game, either by directly purchasing it or playing through Xbox Game Pass.
