Square Enix has released a playable demo of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, ahead of its release on Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2 on June 3rd.
Progress made during the demo will carry over to the full game at launch, and players who do so will receive rewards for use in the full game, including a survival set and a Kupo charm, which boosts the chance of collecting extra materials.
The demo covers the game’s first two chapters: Chapter one, “The Nibelheim incident”, is a flashback sequence set five years before the events of the trilogy, with Sephiroth and a younger Cloud Strife investigating the sudden appearance of monsters outside Cloud’s hometown.
Chapter two is set in the grasslands region, which Square Enix says will offer “several hours” of content, including “thrilling combat, hidden treasures, side stories and the beloved Queen’s Blood card game”. The demo will also let players try out the new “Streamlined Progression” features, which allow players to turn on settings such as unlimited HP, unlimited MP, and an always-full ATB gauge.
Both the Xbox and Switch 2 versions of the game are available to preorder now, with a 20% discount available until June 10th 2026. Those who preorder any digital edition of the game will receive the Moogle Trio and Posh Chocobo Summoning Materia, Shinra Bangle Mk. II and Midgar Bangle Mk. II armour as preorder bonuses.
Those who purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition will also receive the Magic Pot Summoning Materia, Reclamant Choker accessory, Orchid Bracelet armour, Digital Art Book and Digital Mini Soundtrack.
A physical version of the game will also be available for Switch 2 owners, which includes a Magic: The Gathering Final Fantasy Zack Fair card, featuring artwork from Tetsuya Nomura.
