Pokémon Pokopia sells over 2 million copies in its first four days

Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have revealed that sales of Pokémon Pokopia have started incredibly strong.

The companies have confirmed that as of last weekend, Pokopia has already sold over 2.2 million copies, with more than 1 million units sold in just Japan.

Strong launch week sales have already established Pokopia as one of the most successful spin-off games in the franchise’s history, surpassing the likes of Pokémon Battle Revolution and Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness.

As seen in a summary from Serebii founder and editor Joe Merrick, Pokopia already ranks as the twelfth highest selling Pokémon spin-off title. At the current sales trajectory, the game should be sat firmly in the top ten in the coming days.

Pokémon Pokopia released last week to strong critical reception, with a score of 89 on both Metacritic and OpenCritic at the time of writing.

In the days following its release, the game’s physical edition has become harder to find, as retailers across the globe suffer from supply shortages. Some stores, such as Walmart Canada, have even announced that they have completely sold out of their initial stock.
