The next Nintendo Direct will take place this week

Nintendo has revealed that the next Nintendo Direct will take place later this Friday, September 12th, at 6am PT / 9am ET / 2pm BST.

“Tune in for roughly 60 minutes of information on upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch games,” a post on social media reads.

The announcement of a 60-minute runtime means that Friday’s presentation will be the longest ever general Nintendo Direct, only beaten by this year’s Switch 2 presentation, which lasted one hour and two minutes.

Although the contents of the Direct are unknown, we may see a new trailer for Metroid Prime 4, along with a release date announcement. The game is still slated for release this year, with the game having already been rated by various ratings boards, further suggesting an imminent release.

The Direct may provide us with another look at Pokémon legends Z-A and Kirby Air Riders ahead of their releases later this year (October 16 and November 20th, respectively). This week’s presentation may also be a good opportunity to see Splatoon Raiders, which is yet to receive a release date.

This Saturday marks the 40th anniversary of Super Mario Bros, which means it’s highly likely we’ll see some Mario-related announcements. During the 35th anniversary, Nintendo released Super Mario 3D World: Bowser’s Fury, as well as the time-limited Super Mario 3D All-Stars and Super Mario bros 35.
