CD Projekt Red delays Cyberpunk 2077’s 2.3 update

Cyberpunk developer CD Projekt Red has announced that the game’s upcoming 2.3 update has been delayed, with no new release date given. The update was originally set to go live on June 26th.

A post from the game’s official X account (formerly Twitter) reads as follows:

“Hey chooms,

We initially hoped to put Update 2.3 in your hands on June 26. However, we’ll need some more time to make sure we’re happy with it — we’re aiming for a scope similar to Update 2.2. We’ll update you further as soon as we can!

We appreciate your patience!”

CD Projekt Red may have originally planned update 2.3 to coincide with the launch window of the Nintendo Switch 2 edition of the game, which released alongside the console earlier this month. At the time of writing, Cyberpunk 2077 is the best-selling third-party title on Switch 2, and second only to Mario Kart World in the overall rankings.

Details regarding the contents of update 2.3 are yet to be revealed, but the comparison to the game’s 2.2 update may give us a rough idea of what to expect. Released in December 2024, update 2.2 featured a significant amount of quality-of-life improvements and minor content, alongside the usual bug fixes and adjustments. Some of the update’s main additions can be found below:

  • The introduction of the TwinTone feature, which lets players scan any car in the game and duplicate its colour scheme to use on their own vehicles.
  • Johnny Silverhand now occasionally appear in the passenger seat of vehicles, offering his reaction to ongoing events.
  • An overhauled photo mode, which allows players to use a new free cam option, as well as spawn in up to 3 other NPCs from a selection of 20 notable characters.
  • The ability to display photo mode screenshots in any of V’s apartments.
  • 116 new appearance options, including 8 new cosmetic face cyberwear options.
