A Witcher 3 mod editor is coming in 2024

CD Projekt has announced that an official mod editor for The Witcher 3 is currently in the works. The mod editor is expected to release sometime in 2024, exclusively for PC.

“We’re thrilled to announce that we’re working on a mod editor for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt!” Developer CD Projekt said in a post on X/Twitter.

“It will allow you to create your own experiences in the game by making something completely new or editing existing quests and content. We’re planning on releasing it for free in 2024.

“Stay tuned — we’ll have more to share next year!”

CD Projekt talked about providing mod tools as early as 2015, before shelving the idea sometime later. Despite this, the community has still been able to offer a range of mods for the game, including one that replaces Geralt’s face with Henry Cavill’s. The introduction of an official mod editor will likely provide the game with a new lease of life until the next Witcher game releases.

Back in March 2022, CD Projekt announced that they had begun development on the next entry in the Witcher franchise, codenamed Polaris. The developer said that the next game will commence “a new saga for the franchise” and will run on Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 5, rather than CD Projekt’s REDengine.
