Respawn Entertainment has released the seventh patch for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, which focuses on improving performance across all platforms.
For those playing on console, the latest patch includes a “completely reworked” version of the game’s performance mode, in addition to an improved quality mode. The new performance mode provides more CPU and GPU optimisations, while also disabling ray-tracing to offer a “solid 60 FPS”. As for the quality mode, players should expect to see a reduction in FPS fluctuations, as well as further visual improvements.
For those playing on PC, this update adds support for Nvidia’s Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS). DLSS helps improve performance by rendering the game at a lower resolution and then uses AI to upscale the image quality.
The full patch notes can be found here.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was hit with a delay of six weeks to polish the game, however, the game still launched with significant bugs and performance issues. Despite this, the game received a positive critical reception and became Europe’s best-selling game in April, despite launching in the last three days of the month.
Jedi: Survivor’s success hasn’t gone unnoticed, with publisher Electronic Arts confirming that PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game are in the works, although it’s not clear when we should expect to see them.
I reviewed Star Wars Jedi: Survivor shortly after launch, here’s what I had to say:
“Star Wars Jedi: Survivor builds upon everything that made its predecessor great, while also improving in every other aspect. It tells a story that’s worthy of the big screen, featuring an excellent cast of new and returning characters led by an outstanding performance from Cameron Monaghan.“
