September’s PlayStation Plus games have been revealed

Sony has announced the next batch of free monthly games that are coming to PlayStation Plus subscribers next week. Similarly to previous months, subscribers will be granted 2 free games this month, with an additional free game available to those who own a PlayStation 5.

Starting with the 2 PS4 titles, all PS Plus subscribers will be able to pick up IO Interactive’s assassination sim Hitman 2, and the 4v1 shooter Predator: Hunting Grounds. Hitman 2 released back in 2018 to mostly positive reception, scoring an 82 on Metacritic. The game was praised for providing a stealth sandbox rich in depth and for opting against an episodic release. However, some critics also felt the game was more like Hitman 1.5 rather than a true sequel.

In contrast, Predator: Hunting Grounds released last year to generally mixed reviews, with the PS4 version scoring a 56 on Metacritic. Reviewers enjoyed the potential to create blockbuster moments akin to the movies, but were left underwhelmed by average gunplay and a Predator who feels underpowered, scuppering the chance at a true Predator power fantasy.

As has been customary since the PS5’s launch, subscribers who own Sony’s hard to find console will also receive Overcooked! All You Can Eat! which includes both Overcooked! and Overcooked! 2 with all additional content. Both games received a positive reception, with the original scoring 78 and the sequel getting an 81 on Metacritic.

A quick reminder to those who haven’t picked up August’s monthly games yet, you’ll have till next Tuesday (September 7th) to claim Hunter’s Arena: Legends (PS5), Plants Vs Zombies: Battle for Neighborville, and Tennis World Tour 2, at which point the new games line-up will be made available.
