A Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart State of Play comes this week

Sony has announced that the next State of Play broadcast is set to take place this Thursday, April 29th at 2PM Pacific/5PM Eastern – that’s 10PM here in the UK.

In a post on the PlayStation Blog, it was revealed that the latest State of Play is set to focus on PS5 exclusive Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. Insomniac Games’ Creative Director Marcus Smith promises “more than 15 minutes of fresh gameplay” ahead of the game’s release on June 11th.

A brand-new gameplay trailer was also revealed ahead of this week’s broadcast, showing off Insomniac’s Pixar-like level of detail as well as plenty of rift hopping action.

Smith also confirmed that the game’s mysterious female Lombax is called Rivet. “Rivet is a Lombax resistance fighter from another dimension, where the evil Emperor Nefarious hunts all those who oppose him.” The blog post read. The trailer also shows off locations such as Nefarious City and “alternate-dimension twists” of planets familiar to fans of the series.

As for the game’s soundtrack, Smith revealed that veteran composer Mark Mothersbaugh has worked with Insomniac Games on the music for Rift Apart. Mothersbaugh has previously worked on soundtracks for the Crash Bandicoot trilogy and Thor: Ragnarok.

Lastly, the five armour suits included with the game’s digital deluxe edition have also been revealed. The Android, Rebel, Imperial, Hacker and Scavenger suits will provide Ratchet and Rivet with unique appearance options. The suits appear to be cosmetic only, providing no unique traits beyond their appearance.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart releases exclusively for PlayStation 5 on June 11th.
