Destiny 2’s next-gen optimised version arrives in December

Bungie has announced that the next generation version of Destiny 2 will be releasing on December 8th.

This enhanced version of the game will also be a free upgrade for all players.

The next-gen version will not only release on PS5 and Xbox Series X, but also Xbox Series S, Microsoft’s more affordable next-gen console. In the mean time, players on the new consoles can expect faster loading times and cross-gen play (PS4 with PS5 and Xbox One with Series X/S).

It’s worth noting that while the SSDs in the consoles will improve load times, some of Destiny 2’s loading is still dependant on matchmaking and networking – so maybe don’t expect to be loading into raids in an instant.

Also arriving in December is the long requested inclusion of a field of view (FOV) slider. The FOV slider will be available on all consoles, with the aim to provide a range “similar to that on PC”.
