Coinciding with its one-year anniversary, Sony has announced that Horizon Zero Dawn has sold a staggering 7.6 million copies, making it the best-selling new first-party franchise on PS4.

Such strong sales figures likely come as very good news for Guerrilla Games, who made the bold decision to venture into new territory after working on the Killzone franchise for more than a decade. Guerrilla Games’ boss Herman Hulst expressed his joy for the games’ success. “We had huge ambition for Horizon Zero Dawn and as we approached the launch we knew people were excited, but to see sales of this volume is truly mind blowing.”

To celebrate the games’ success, Guerrilla will be releasing a PSN avatar bundle in addition to a photo mode theme, which features some fan-made photo mode screenshots.

Such success for both Guerrilla and Sony likely suggests we’ll see more Horizon games in the future.
