Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has teased that Xbox will be getting its own version of PlayStation’s Platinum Trophy.
Responding to a post on X (formerly Twitter), Sharma said that the team are currently working to bring a Platinum Trophy equivalent to the platform later this year, but stopped short of providing any specific details.
Since the launch of the Xbox 360 in 2005, players have been able to earn achievements for completing certain tasks in their favourite games, with each achievement also awarding gamerscore points that are displayed on their profiles.
In 2008, Sony introduced trophies, which served as the PlayStation equivalent to achievements. Both systems functioned very similarly, but PlayStation trophies offered an additional reward to those who obtain every trophy in a game: A Platinum Trophy.
Ever since the introduction of the Platinum Trophy, Xbox fans have speculated what an equivalent reward might look like on their platform. With Xbox seemingly ready to introduce their own version of the Platinum Trophy, it looks as though the achievement system is set to receive arguably the biggest update in its 21-year history.
