Nintendo has officially revealed that a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 later this year.

The game was announced during Tuesday’s Nintendo Direct presentation.

“The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time: The Nintendo 64 classic returns for a new generation in 2026, reborn exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2,” a statement from Nintendo reads.

Back in March, reports began circulating that Nintendo was working on both a new Starfox and an Ocarina of Time remake. Starfox was confirmed by Nintendo last month, suggesting that the Zelda remake was indeed on the way, with the series’ 40th anniversary also this year.

Released in 1998 for the Nintendo 64, Ocarina of Time is hailed as not only one of the best Zelda games, but one of the greatest games of all time, scoring 99 on Metacritic.

A remastered version of the game was released on 3DS in 2011, netting a similar, but lower score of 94.
