Microsoft has announced that Gears of War: E-Day will arrive on October 6th.

Following the gameplay reveal trailer at the Xbox Game Showcase, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma confirmed that the game won’t be released on PlayStation.

Earlier this week, Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb had claimed that Microsoft had reversed its plans to release the game on PlayStation, likely as part of its new plans to bring more exclusive titles to the console.

“Gears of War: E-Day was gonna be on PS5. It’s not anymore,” Grubb said. “That just happened. That is a decision that just got made.”

First revealed at last year’s Xbox Games Showcase, Gears of War: E-Day serves as a prequel to the iconic shooter series, focusing on the events of Emergence Day, the day the Locust invasion of Sera began.
