Microsoft has announced a release date for Playground Games’ Fable, following its delay to February 2027.

During the Xbox Games Showcase, it was revealed that the long-awaited reboot of the beloved RPG series will release on February 23rd, 2027.

A new trailer for the game introduces the main villain, Isabel, played by Hayley Atwell, best known for her roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and Mission Impossible films.

“Isabel is a driven, powerful Hero on a quest to make right a tragic injustice,” Narrative Director Craig Owens said in an Xbox Wire post. “Driven by grief, Isabel has turned her pain into determination and focus that sets her at odds with The Hero of Briar Hill and Humphry, her one-time guardian.”

“Isabel’s conviction that she’s not just doing the right thing, but she’ll be able to make right any harm she causes along the way makes her a powerful, dangerous enemy.”

Last month, it was announced that Fable had been delayed to 2027, having initially been set for an autumn 2026 release.

“In order to plan our game launches through the holidays, in a way that works best for players, we’re moving Fable to February 2027 so it can have the dedicated moment it deserves,” a statement from Microsoft read.
