Nintendo has announced that the Nintendo Switch 2 has sold over 3.5 million units in its first four days, making it the company’s fastest-selling hardware ever released. For comparison, the original Switch sold 2.74 million units in its first month, roughly 22% less than the Switch 2 has achieved in a fraction of the time.
“Nintendo Switch 2 represents the next evolution of Nintendo Switch, and we’re very happy and grateful to see it already being embraced by so many players across Europe,” said Luciano Pereña, CEO and President of Nintendo of Europe. “We look forward to seeing players connecting through games like Mario Kart World, sharing the experience with friends and family whether near or far.”
Yesterday, a report from The Game Business revealed that the Switch 2 has become Nintendo’s fastest-selling hardware in UK history, surpassing the previous record holder, the 3DS. Despite this, Nintendo’s latest hybrid console ranks as the UK’s 4th fastest-selling console of all time, with both the Xbox Series and PlayStation 5 ranking higher.
Nintendo has forecast that it will sell 15 million Switch 2 units by the end of the financial year, which means that the console has almost hit a quarter of this target in four days. Should Switch 2 sales exceed its target of 15 million, then it will have surpassed the original Switch in yet another sales metric.
