Ubisoft has revealed the official title of the next Assassin’s Creed game. Originally known as Codename Red, the franchise’s next entry will be called Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
A cinematic trailer for the game will debut on May 15th at 9am PT/ 12pm ET/ 5pm BST, with a gameplay reveal likely to happen during this year’s Ubisoft Forward showcase in June. Ubisoft have already confirmed that the game will arrive during the current fiscal year, which ends in April 2025.
It’s already been confirmed that the game will take place in feudal Japan, but leaks and rumours have also suggested that the game will feature dual protagonists for the first time since 2015’s Assassin’s Creed Syndicate.
The game was originally announced back in 2022, as part of Ubisoft’s plans for the future of the franchise. The publisher announced that it had several Assassin’s Creed projects in the works, including Assassin’s Creed Mirage, which released in October 2023.
Following the release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the next mainline entry in the series is expected to be Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe. The game is currently in development at Ubisoft Montreal, the studio behind Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
