Immortals of Aveum delayed by a month

Immortals of Aveum, the first-person magic-based shooter from Ascendant Studios and EA, has been delayed. Originally set to release on July 20th, the latest EA Originals title will now release on August 22nd, a delay of just over a month.

In a statement, Ascendant CEO Bret Robbins said that the delay would allow the team more time to polish and optimise the game.

“As you know, this is our first game as a self-funded independent studio,” Robbins said. “We set out five years ago to ambitiously make an original Magic FPS in a new fantasy world.

“Along the way, we worked through a pandemic, built a new team, developed on Unreal Engine 5.1 and pushed the boundaries of what we thought was possible.

“Now, the finish line is in sight.”

Robbins continued: “The recent feedback to the game proves to us what we already felt: that Immortals of Aveum is something special. In order to realize our full vision, we are going to take a few extra weeks, making our new launch date Tuesday, August 22nd.

“This will give us time to further polish the game, finish optimizing all platforms, and deliver a strong launch. We owe it to ourselves and to you to get this right.”

The California-based studio was founded by Robbins in 2018, whose 26 years of experience comes from spells at Crystal Dynamics (Gex, Legacy of Kain), Visceral Games (Dead Space) and Sledgehammer Games (Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, Advanced Warfare, WWII). Beyond Robbins, the studio is made up of a “close knit, unpretentious team of industry-leading talent” with ascendant developers having worked on the likes of The Walking Dead, Marvel’s Spider-Man, Tomb Raider and Bioshock.

Immortals of Aveum will now launch on August 22nd for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC (Steam, Epic Games, EA App).
