Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, the next game from Arkham developer Rocksteady, has received a hefty delay. The game was set to release on May 26th, but will now launch on February 2nd 2024, a delay of almost 9 months.
In a statement posted to the game’s official Twitter page, Rocksteady described the delay as a “tough but necessary decision.”
“We have made the tough but necessary decision to take the time needed to work on getting the game to be the best quality experience for players.” The statement read. “Thank you to our amazing community for the continued support, patience and understanding.”
“There is much more to share in the months ahead and we look forward to seeing you in Metropolis next year.”
Last month, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier reported that Warner had decided to shift the release into the second half of 2023. Following this report, industry insider Jeff Grubb revealed that a reliable source had also confirmed that the game would be delayed, but may release sometime in 2024 instead.
Back in February, the game featured heavily in PlayStation’s State of Play presentation, but was met with a mixed reaction from fans due to its live service, looter shooter components. The game received further criticism when an FAQ page revealed that an internet connection would be required to play the game, even when playing solo.
Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League will now release on February 2nd 2024 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
