Sony reveals PSVR2 launch window

Sony has revealed that the upcoming PlayStation VR2 headset will release in “early 2023”.

The announcement was made last night via a post on PlayStation’s official Instagram page, the vague release window accompanied by an image of the device.

It’s not certain as to when exactly in “early 2023” PSVR2 will release, as Sony has kept tight lipped; perhaps a fair assumption could be around March/April time as the fiscal year comes to a close. As for how much the device will cost, Sony is yet to announce that information.

While we are still short on many launch details, we do however know plenty about the headset itself. The next generation PSVR will feature a 4K display, running at either 90 or 100Hz, with a 110-degree field of view. Unlike its predecessor, PSVR2 will connect directly to the PlayStation 5 via USB, as opposed to needing the processor unit.

The device will also feature built in cameras for motion tracking, rather than a separate camera. This also allows the user to see their surroundings without needing to take the headset off.
