Latest Halo Infinite trailer gives a new look at the campaign

More than a year after it’s initial reveal, Microsoft an 343 Industries have provided a fresh look at Halo Infinite’s campaign. Check out what challenges await Master Chief in the video below:

Right off the bat, it’s clear to see that the game has received a bit of facelift when compared to last summer’s gameplay reveal. As for the story, a lot is still unknown, but from the small tidbits we’ve seen, it looks like Master Chief will be teaming up with an AI called The Weapon. This new partner was designed to contain Cortana, who turned against the Chief at the end of Halo 5’s story.

Elsewhere, we get a new look at a much more open campaign structure, where players can choose what objectives to take on next. This new, non-linear approach feels similar to a Ubisoft game, with Banished outposts to destroy and marines to rescue. Chief can also request for vehicles to be airdropped in via pelican at certain locations. The campaign will also feature an upgrade system for equipment like the grappleshot, drop wall and thruster.

As for new characters, we’re introduced to Spartan hunter Jega ‘Rdomnai, and The Harbinger of The Truth, who’s not very fond of the Forerunners or Chief. 343 also introduce a new enemy type called Skimmers, who look as though they use forerunner technology to attack from the skies.

Halo Infinite’s campaign and free-to-play multiplayer is set to release on December 8th for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
