Sony has today released a new trailer for Ghost of Tsushima’s Iki Island expansion, which will arrive as part of the Director’s Cut.
In a post on the PlayStation Blog, Sucker Punch’s Patrick Downs revealed that the new expansion will feature “new locations to discover, characters to meet, tales to complete, and more.”
Jin Sakai’s journey across Iki Island will see him face a new enemy: Ankhsar Khatun. Known by her followers as “the Eagle”, Khatun is described as not just a conqueror, but also a “shepherd of souls” who poses a threat to Jin and his allies that is “unlike any they have faced.”
The Iki Island expansion will also feature new legends and techniques, as Jin faces off against pirates, smugglers and mad monks as players “delve into the dark past of clan Sakai…”
Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut releases on August 20th on PS4 for £59.99 and PS5 for £69.99. For those who already own the game, you’ll be able to upgrade your existing copy to the Director’s Cut for £15.99 on PS4, and £24.99 on PS5.
To add further confusion, those who own the Director’s Cut on PS4 will have to pay £9 to upgrade to the PS5 version whenever they decide to upgrade. The news left many fans disgruntled, with some even opting to wait till the game goes on sale before pulling the trigger.
“Goes straight to my ” buy when 80% off” list” one user on Reddit remarked.
“I too will wait and get it 50% off or something” another replied.
Only time will tell if Sony’s confusing upgrades and £70 PS5 games will remain a viable option, especially when Xbox’s first party titles include free upgrades.
