Call of Duty: Warzone’s Verdansk set to be nuked during next week’s event

Call of Duty: Warzone’s long awaited nuke event is set to take place next Wednesday, April 21st at 12PM PT (that’s 8PM GMT for those of us across the pond).

Fans of the popular battle royale were provided with a small tease on the Call of Duty Twitter page, which stated that “the end is near…”

So what’s happens after next week’s event? If recent leaks are to be believed, players will be presented with an all new 80’s themed Verdansk that will likely play a part in the Black Ops Cold War narrative moving forward. As for the modern day Verdansk, next week’s event is set to nuke the region in a bid to prevent the ongoing zombie outbreak in the game.

Warzone is somewhat overdue to receive a new, full size battle royale map, with the smaller, more chaotic Rebirth Island being the only addition since the game released last year; some warzone players are starting to get tired of dropping into the same map, having done so for more than a year now. It’s unsure how far the new Cold War inspired Verdansk will go to make things feel fresh – a simply 1980’s lick of paint isn’t guaranteed to do the trick.

The new retro Verdansk is the final piece of the puzzle in terms of Black Ops Cold War’s integration into Warzone, a move that proved to be controversial back when Season One kicked off in December.

It’s expected that Black Ops Cold War will also receive new content next week as part of the game’s upcoming third season, most likely in the form of new maps, weapons and operators.
