Deathloop hit with a second delay

Arkane Studios’ upcoming time loop shooter Deathloop has been delayed again. The game will now launch on September 14th 2021, just under 4 months after the previous release date in May.

In a statement issued by the developer, Arkane explained that the decision to delay the game was made in the interest of protecting the health and safety of the development team.

“We’re committed to quality and preserving our team’s ambitions for Deathloop while ensuring the health and safety of everyone at Arkane” the statement read. ” We’ll be using this extra time to accomplish our goal: create a fun, stylish and mind-bending player experience.”

Arkane’s statement also thanked fans for their continued enthusiasm while the team pushes on with development. “We apologise for the extended wait and thank you all for your passion and excitement. It is the fuel that powers our creativity and our hard work. We can’t wait to show you more Deathloop soon!”

Deathloop was originally set to release sometime in 2020, before being pushed back to May 2021, meaning the game will have received near to a year’s worth of delays by the time it releases.

Deathloop will now launch on September 14th for PC and PS5, where the game is a timed console exclusive for 12 months; the game will then release on Xbox – and presumably other Game Pass platforms – from September 2022.
