The Last of Us Part 2 dominates BAFTA nominations

The nominations for this year’s BAFTA Games Awards have been announced, with Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part 2 receiving 13 nominations, the most any game has been awarded in the history of the awards.

Several other PlayStation titles are also among the nominations, with Ghost of Tsushima getting 10 nominations, seven for Spider-Man: Miles Morales, six for creation platform Dreams, and 4 for Sackboy: A Big Adventure. PS5 freebie Astro’s Playroom also receives three nominations, with Bluepoint’s remake of Demon’s Souls getting a nod for the Technical Achievement award.

Of the numerous PlayStation games nominated for awards, The Last of Us Part 2, Ghost of Tsushima and Spider-Man: Miles Morales have all been nominated for Best Game, making up half the nominees for the award; Hades (8 nominations), Animal Crossing: New Horizons (5 nominations) and Half-Life: ALYX (4 nominations) have also been chosen for consideration.

In total, games published by PlayStation Studios have received a staggering 44 nominations across 17 categories.

Elsewhere, Mediatonic’s battle royale sensation Fall Guys, has been nominated for five awards, including Best Multiplayer and Best British Game. There are also nominations for Airborne Kingdom (The Wandering Band), Assassin’s Creed Valhalla (Ubisoft Montréal), Call of the Sea (Out of the Blue), Carrion (Phobia Game Studio), Destiny 2: Beyond Light (Bungie), F1 2020 (Codemasters), Factorio (Wube Software), Final Fantasy 7 Remake (Square Enix), Fortnite (Epic Games), Kentucky Route Zero: TV Edition (Cardboard Computer), Microsoft Flight Simulator (Asobo Studio), Minecraft Dungeons (Mojang Studios/Double Eleven), No Man’s Sky (Hello Games), Ori and the Will of the Wisps (Moon Studios), Röki, Sea of Thieves (Rare), The Falconeer (Tomas Sala), The Last Campfire (Hello Games) and Valorant (Riot Games).

Lastly, the EE Game of the Year Award allows the public to choose their game of the year from the following nominations:

  • Animal Crossing: New Horizons
  • Call of Duty: Warzone
  • Ghost of Tsushima
  • Hades
  • The Last of Us Part 2
  • Valorant

Voting is now open and available on EE’s website, with the BAFTA Games Awards show taking place on Thursday March 25th.
