Uncharted film delayed to 2022

Fans of the Uncharted series will have to wait a little while longer to see Nathan Drake make his silver screen debut as the Uncharted film has been delayed to February 11th 2022; prior to the delay, the film was set to hit theatres on July 16th 2021.

The announcement was made overnight as Sony revealed that several movies, including Morbius, Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Daniel Craig’s final Bond flick No Time to Die have all had their release dates shaken up in response to the ongoing pandemic.

Nate meets Nate: Nathan Drake voice actor Nolan North meets Tom Holland on set.

This most recent delay is the latest chapter in the long, rocky road for the Uncharted movie, with the film having an initial release date of June 10th 2016, before being moved to June 30th 2017. The movie then moved to December 18th 2020, former director Travis Knight’s departure triggered yet another delay to March 5th 2021, followed by a further delay to October 8th 2021 before being brought forward to the previous release date of July 16th 2021 – still with me?

Alongside numerous delays, the movie has had a revolving door of cast and crew during its 10+ years of production including six directors, with Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland, Venom) stepping in as number seven.

It looks as though it’s just a matter of getting through the ongoing pandemic before fans get to see Nate’s latest adventure. Delays aside, it looks like there’s some light at the end of the tunnel for a project with such a long and troubled development.
