An early, in-development screenshot of the next Bioshock game has been published online, featuring an early look at one of the game’s weapons and the UI.
Published by MP1ST, the image was reportedly part of a 2021 showcase reel from a 2K visual effects artist, whose identity remains unknown to protect their privacy. The game’s codename, ‘Parkside’ can be spotted in the image, a name which was first mentioned in a report by Jason Schreier in 2019.
The next entry in the Bioshock series was confirmed by 2K in December 2019. The publisher stated that development would continue “for the next several years” at the newly established Cloud Chamber studios. The developer features several Bioshock veterans including design director Jonathan Pelling and creative director Hoagy de la Plante.

In 2021, journalist Colin Moriarty revealed more information as part of the Sacred Symbols podcast, including the game’s setting. “It takes place in a 1960s Antarctic city called Borealis,” Moriarty said. “[The game is] codenamed ‘Parkside’… I’ve been told that the development team has incredible latitude to get it right. That seems and sounds right to me.”
Bioshock creator Ken Levine has no involvement in the new game. Levine is currently leading the development of Judas, the debut title from Ghost Story Games, which was formed after the closure of Bioshock and Bioshock Infinite developer Irrational Games.
