Amazon has announced that the first episode of the highly anticipated Fallout TV series will be released on April 12 2024, exclusively on Prime Video.
The announcement was made via a Pip Boy-themed video on the show’s official Twitter account. Eagle-eyed viewers have also spotted the first episode’s title during the boot sequence at the start of the clip (pause at the 8-second mark).
Episode 1, seemingly titled “The End”, will be directed by Jonathan Nolan, who also serves as an executive producer on the series alongside Lisa Joy. Nolan and Joy are also the co-founders of Kilter Films, the production company most renowned for their work on HBO’s Westworld.
The Fallout TV show was first announced back in 2020, with Nolan and Joy receiving a series commitment from Amazon Studios. Following the announcement, Amazon, Kilter Films and Bethesda maintained a lengthy level of radio silence. Two years later, Amazon gave fans a first look at the series with a teaser image showing residents from Vault 33.
In August, Amazon and Bethesda announced that the show would be arriving sometime in 2024, while also confirming that the show would be set in Los Angeles. Those who visited Bethesda’s Gamescom booth were able to see the first teaser trailer of the show, which was eventually leaked via blurry phone footage captured by an attendee. The footage showed the Brotherhood of Steel, an unknown ghoul character, and a Vault 33 resident leaving for the wasteland.
Photos from the set have also found their way online, showing Vault-Tec’s headquarters, a Red Rocket gas station and the never-before-seen Vault 32.
Bethesda’s Todd Howard has said that bigger looks at the show will be coming soon. With the series less than six months from release, there’s a chance we could get our first trailer by the end of the year.
