FromSoftware announces Elden Ring expansion

Elden Ring developer FromSoftware has revealed that an expansion for the game is on the way.

The announcement came from the official Elden Ring twitter account, along with a new piece of concept art. “Rise, Tarnished, and let us walk a new path together.” The post read. “An upcoming expansion for Elden Ring, Shadow of the Erdtree, is currently in development.”

“We hope you look forward to new adventures in the Lands Between.”

No further details were provided, meaning that a release date is unknown.

Elden Ring will be the latest FromSoftware title to receive significant post-launch content, following the likes of Bloodborne and the Dark Souls trilogy. The game has already received new content in the form of its colosseum update, which brought PvP battles to the arenas of Limgrave, Leyndell and Caelid.

Released back in February 2022, Elden Ring was met with immense critical acclaim and went on to receive multiple awards at last year’s Game Awards, including Game of the Year. It was also recently revealed that the game has sold more than 20 million copies since release.

Shadow of the Erdtree isn’t the only project in the works at FromSoftware, with Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon currently expected to release later this year.
