Breath of the Wild sequel delayed to Spring 2023

The sequel to 2017’s Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has been delayed to Spring 2023. The game was previously scheduled to release sometime in 2022.

In a video statement, series producer Eiji Aonuma announced that the game will no longer release this year.

“We previously announced that we were aiming for a 2022 release for this game. However, we have decided to extend our development time a bit and change the release to Spring 2023.”

“For those of you who have been looking forward to a release this year, we apologise.”

“In order to make this game’s experience something special, the entire development team is continuing to work diligently on this game,” Aonuma claimed.

It’s been just under a year since we last saw any new details on the highly anticipated sequel, but the footage shown during this announcement did give us a look at a rather worse for wear Master Sword.

Expect to hear more details from the game – including its official name- over the next year.
