Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League delayed to 2023

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, the next game from Batman Arkham developer Rocksteady, has been delayed to next year. The game is now set to release in Spring 2023.

The delay announcement is somewhat unsurprising, with WB Montreal’s Gotham knights also set to launch this year, it seemed fairly unlikely that WB would want both DC titles released in the same year – that’s in addition to Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga and Hogwarts Legacy, which are also being published by Warner Bros.

The delay was confirmed in a tweet from Rocksteady co-founder Sefton Hill, who took the opportunity to thank patient fans as the studio continues to work on its first title since 2015’s Batman Arkham Knight.

“We’ve made the difficult decision to delay Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League to Spring 2023.” Hill wrote.

“I know a delay is frustrating but that time is going into making the best game we can. I look forward to bringing the chaos to Metropolis together. Thanks for your patience.”

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was first announced at DC FanDome back in 2020, with a gameplay reveal arriving at The Game Awards the following year. The game is an open-world co-op title set in Metropolis, and is a continuation of the developer’s established Arkham-verse.

Playable characters include Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang and King Shark, who are tasked with eliminating brainwashed members of the Justice league following Brainiac’s invasion.

Elsewhere, WB Montreal’s Gotham Knights is separate from Rocksteady’s Arkham-verse, set in Gotham City following the death of Bruce Wayne. Gotham Knights will also include co-op, as players assume the role of Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing and Red Hood. The game is set to release this year, having recently got a release date of October 25th.
