Gotham Knights, the upcoming Batman game from Arkham Origins’ developer WB Montreal, has been delayed. The game will now release some time in 2022.
In a statement posted to Twitter, Warner Bros. stated that the delay would allow the developers to “deliver the best possible experience for players.” While that means fans will have to wait a bit longer to get our hands on the game, the publisher did confirm that we’ll see more of Gotham Knights “in the coming months.”
The statement also thanked and acknowledged patient fans for their “tremendous support of Gotham Knights.”
This is the second title published by Warner Bros. to be hit with a delay, after Hogwarts Legacy’s release was also pushed to 2022 back in January. With multiple games from Warner Bros. suffering delays, some may begin to wonder if other titles will be impacted, such as Rocksteady’s upcoming Suicide Squad game currently set to release next year.
Gotham Knights was revealed last summer as part of the DC Fandome event and was presented as an open-world, co-op action-adventure set in Gotham. Following the death of Bruce Wayne, four members of the bat family must unite to protect the city in the absence of their mentor. The secret society known as the Court of Owls has also been teased as the game’s main antagonists.
Gotham Knights will now release in 2022 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
